2015 Season Update

Greetings, fellow Track Junkies.

As you peer out the window at today’s grey sky, it may help to remember that the track season is just around the corner. That’s right … our first two Track Junkies events are just 10 weeks away and filling up fast. And we’ve been working behind the scenes to prepare for a great season. Here are the latest updates:

Ross Bentley Weekend

Our weekend with Ross Bentley is filling up VERY quickly. Ross is one of the most sought-after performance & race driver coaches in the world, and author of the best-selling Speed Secrets racing technique and strategy books. He will be leading two events for us … a one-day Instructor Clinic on Friday, April 24 followed by a one-day Advanced Driver Clinic on Saturday, April 25. Detailed information on these events is here: http://www.trackjunkies.ca/ross-bentley-weekend/.

If you are planning to be part of this weekend but have yet to register, you will want to get yourself registered SOON. We are over 80% capacity in both events already, with limited space remaining.

New for 2015: TIME ATTACK run groups

You may already know that CSCC did not request any 2015 dates for their Solo1 program. To fill the gap, we are offering at least one competitive Time Attack run group at each open lapping event, with AMB timing transponders available for rent. Participants can accumulate points throughout the season and qualify for prizes and/or trophies at the end of the season.  More details here: http://www.trackjunkies.ca/time-attack/.

I’ve had a number of requests to pre-approve drivers for Time Attack … for the purpose of clarifying the process, you do NOT need to send both your competition or Solo license AND your driving history. If you have a competition license, that is sufficient … please send us a photo or scan of your license and we will approve you based on that alone.

subway is back for 2015!

Subway has again offered to sponsor lunches at our Track Junkies open lapping events.  Please thank your fellow Track Junkies Peter Spencer and Paul Sarlis for continuing this great offer for our third season.

Edmonton Motor Show April 912

Once again this year, our partner Castrol Raceway has offered us some space in their booth at the Edmonton Motor Show at the Edmonton Event Center (Northlands). Please stop by and visit.

And please be forewarned … once we promote our 2015 season at this public event, it is unlikely there will be any space left in the Ross Bentley Weekend. So again, if you are intending to participate in the Ross Bentley weekend please get yourself registered.

Castrol On-Track Experience dates for 2015

In concert with Southside Mitsubishi, Track Junkies is again partnering with Castrol Raceway to offer “On-Track Experience”, where drivers can come out and run a few laps on the road course behind the Southside Mitsubishi pace car.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who has never been on track or who may be a bit intimidated by the prospect of solo lapping to experience the track in a lower-intensity event format.  Dates for On-Track Experience are May 13May 27June 10June 24, and July 8 (all are Wednesday evenings). The cost will be $99 for the evening.

Safety Starts With You

As always, along with our very professional marshals and safety crew, we’ll be doing everything we can to provide you with a fun and safe environment to explore the limits of your sportscar. And we are very proud of our excellent safety record. However, safe events do not happen by accident (no pun intended) and our event staff are not the only ones who contribute to your safety. If you’ve noticed your speeds have been creeping up and your laps times coming down, maybe this is the year for a roll bar and 5-point harnesses, a HANS device, or a fire suit. This is a great time of year to be thinking about improving your own personal safety gear … buts this is also the time everyone else is thinking about the same thing. Don’t wait until the equipment suppliers are sold out … order your safety gear now.

Thanks, and we’ll see you at the track soon.

Regards,
Track Junkies
